May Newsletter and Updates!

It's almost the end of the school year and there is still lots of fun to be had! Today starts Teacher Appreciation Week! Check out the newsletter for all of the fun surprises for our teachers! Also Class pictures are May 9th and the Mrs. Fields Cookie fundraiser items will be here on Wednesday so make sure you pick them up between 1pm-4pm! These are perishable items and need to get to a freezer! Also get your tickets for Violin Rocks at the San Juan Community Theater May 31st and June 1st! This benefits the arts program at FHES and will also have a bake sale during the performance so if you want to contribute some yummy baked goods or help out with the booth please let us know at FHES.PTA@gmail.com

Spring Newsletter & Teacher Appreciation Week!

Well our school year is slowly coming to an end but there is still so much to look forward to! Coming up in May we have Teacher Appreciation Week from May 6-10. There is a lot of opportunities to help out this week! We are looking for volunteers to donate food for the Teachers Breakfast on May 10th and the Teachers Lunch on May 7th. If you are interested please email Ryan @ ryanmccullough@me.com. 

We also have Bring Your Teacher a Flower Day on May 8th. The FHES PTA is accepting orders for Carnations for your child to give to the teacher. The flowers are $2 a piece and we just need the child's name, teachers name and money turned in with your kid by Monday April 29th.There is a slip you can cut off at the bottom of the newsletter that went home last week!

Also coming up at the end of May is an assembly and workshops sponsored by the PTA called VIOLIN ROCKS. This will be held on May 31st and June 1st. There will be 2 evening performances and a portion of the proceeds with go to the Arts program. Keep your eyes peeled for our next month Newsletter with plenty of more information on this exciting event.

FHES Principal Candidate Interviews

A parent/community presentation opportunity for each finalist will take place at 6:00 in the FHES Library.

We will have finalists come to the district individually (one day per finalist) and spend their time getting to know us and for us to get to know them better.  Each leader brings a great deal of insight and leadership to the role of principal and to public education.  Here are the finalists and their interview dates:


  *   Jerry Bauer:        Monday, March 25.  Mr. Bauer has served in the role of elementary school principal in Montana and in Wisconsin.  He is currently working in the Education Department at Montana State University.


  *   Diane Ball:          Thursday, March 28.  Mrs. Ball served nearly 20 years at an elementary teacher in the Conway School District in Skagit County.  She is currently in her ninth year as an Assistant Principal in the Marysville School District.


  *   Matthew Holshouser:   Friday March 29.  Mr. Holshouser is an experienced elementary school teacher and is currently serving as an Assistant Principal in Livingston, Montana.

We are in the works for more fun filled PTA events before the school year ends. Details to come.
It is with a sad heart that FHES PTA says goodbye to our current president Roxanne Angel. Her letter of resignation follows below. She has been the backbone of our PTA board, putting in numerous, thankless hours to make FHES a better place for our children, teachers, and fellow parents.
Thank you so much Roxanne for the time you served and for all that you have done. You will be missed!

FHES PTA now has a snack table during Island Rec Open Skates on Saturdays 5-8:30pm. 


Hi Everyone,

I'd like to take a moment and thank you for all of your amazing children and the opportunity I've had to serve as Co-President of the FHES PTA since 2011. It has been a pleasure serving the elementary school and I will miss all of the smiling faces. My daughter is no longer enrolled at FHES, so effective immediately, I am stepping down from my board position as Co-President.

While I have this opportunity, I’d like to urge you to please take a moment to reflect and think about all of the AMAZING SERVICES that your PTA provides. Our board members REALLY NEED YOUR HELP! We are so grateful for all of our volunteers and couldn't do it without you.

Please continue to help us help your children. There are many ways that you can get involved. Don't be shy and don't wait to be asked! The PTA raises funds for your children's field trips, the Art Enrichment Program, Winter & Spring Enrichment, teacher's stipends for classroom materials, childcare, money for translators, and so much more.  

And there are many other issues that need volunteer help like education on bullying, classroom parent-teacher liaisons, lice, eye tests, hearing tests, and flu shots.  Our needs for the kids are endless and we cannot continue to make this happen without YOUR HELP! Ryan and Kevin will continue to serve as your Co-Presidents for the remainder of this school year.  If you are interested in serving on our board, please let them know.  It’s been a great year and the PTA is looking forward to some new faces.   :)

IT'S TIME FOR THE SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR!


Hello everyone!

It's book fair time again! This is a great fundraiser for the PTA and for our school. Just in time to get your holiday gifts! Below is a list of times when help is needed. CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!

Friday, November 30, 3pm for setup (the more the merrier, and quicker!)

Mon, Dec 3rd thru Fri., Dec. 7th- No volunteers needed- our incredible librarian, Sally Waite, will take care of the kids & teachers and get their wish lists together.

Saturday - Book Fair Day - Dec.8th
Help is needed from 8:30 until 3:00. I would prefer that you work the whole time if possible, or it can be broken into three shifts, 8:30 to 10:30 and 10:30 to 12:30 & 12:30-3:00. Let me know what works for you!

We will have our book fair, 5th grade breakfast and Donut Dash. "Join us for breakfast, buy your favorite books and dash out with donuts!"

Mon., Dec. 10- one volunteer- in the library (2:30-4:30)

Tues., Dec. 11- one volunteer in the library (noon- 2:30). 2:30 until?

Tues. Dec. 11- Book Fair Breakdown, again, the more the merrier, and quicker!

Wed. Dec. 12th- Scholastic picks up books.
